How to Measure Your Body for a Perfect Fit (No Shirt, No Problem!)

This method guides you through taking measurements directly on your body — no need for a reference shirt. It's a simple, precise way to capture your unique proportions, and the results speak for themselves.

For a few areas, you may need a second set of hands (a friend, partner, or helpful roommate — a coffee bribe never hurts ☕). Once you’ve got your measurements, we’ll take care of the rest, crafting a shirt tailored just for you.

How to Measure for the Perfect Collar

  • Wrap a measuring tape around the base of your neck, where the collar would naturally sit. Make sure the tape is level and snug, but not tight.
  • Slip one finger (preferably your index finger) between the tape and your neck. This gives you a bit of breathing room for a comfortable fit.
  • Check the number where the tape meets the starting point — that’s your neck measurement.

Tip: If you already have a shirt that fits you well, check the collar size printed on the label. It usually matches your neck size and is shown in inches (e.g., 17) or centimeters (e.g., 43).

How to Measure for a Perfect Shoulder Fit

  • Stand naturally with relaxed posture and your arms resting at your sides.
  • Have someone place the start of the measuring tape at the outer edge of your left shoulder — right where the shoulder ends and the arm begins. This is typically where the shoulder seam sits on a well-fitting shirt.

Tip: If you're unsure where your shoulder edges are, try putting on a well-fitting shirt — the shoulder seams will show you exactly where to place the tape.

  • Extend the tape straight across your upper back, following the natural slope of your shoulders.
  • Stop at the outer edge of your right shoulder, at the same seam-like point.
  • Make sure the tape stays horizontal and gently curved, not drooping or pulled too tightly.
  • The number where the tape ends is your shoulder width.

Tip: This measurement is hard to take on your own — ask a friend or family member to help (coffee bribes encouraged ).

How to Measure for a Perfect Chest Fit

  • Stand naturally with a relaxed posture — don’t puff out your chest or slouch.
  • Wrap a measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest, usually across the nipples and under the arms.
  • Make sure the tape lies flat against your body and stays level all the way around. Don’t pull it too tight, and don’t leave extra space.
  • Take the measurement where the end of the tape meets the starting point — this is your chest measurement.

Note: The actual chest width of your shirt will depend on the fit you choose (e.g., slim, regular, or relaxed). So when measuring, just record your natural chest size without adjusting or adding room — we’ll take care of the rest based on your selected fit.

How to Measure for a Perfect Waist Fit

  • Stand in a relaxed posture and locate the narrowest part of your torso — usually just above the navel and below the ribcage. This is your natural waist.
  • Wrap a measuring tape around this point, making sure it stays level and flat against your skin.
  • The tape should be snug but not tight — no squeezing or adding extra room.
  • Take the measurement where the tape meets the starting point — this is your waist measurement.

Note: Don’t worry about adjusting the number — we’ll take care of the allowances based on the fit you choose (slim, regular, or relaxed).

How to Measure for a Perfect Hip Fit

  • Stand up straight with your feet together and your posture relaxed.
  • Wrap a measuring tape around the widest part of your hips and buttocks — this may vary depending on your body shape.
  • Make sure the tape is level and parallel to the ground all the way around. It should lie flat against your body without pulling too tight or leaving extra space.
  • Take the measurement where the tape meets the starting point — that’s your hip size.

How to Measure for a Perfect Armhole Fit

  • Place your hand on your hip so your elbow points slightly outward. This opens up the arm area and mimics how a shirt fits when worn.
  • Position the measuring tape at the outer edge of your shoulder, where the armhole seam would sit on a shirt.
  • Wrap the tape under your armpit and back around to the starting point, forming a full circle around the armhole area.
  • Make sure the tape is snug but not tight, and lies flat all the way around.
  • Take the measurement where the tape meets the starting point — this is your armhole circumference.

Tip: Measuring with your hand on your hip helps recreate the shape and space a real shirt needs. If possible, ask someone to assist for better accuracy.

How to Measure for a Perfect Bicep Fit

  • Let your arm hang naturally by your side — no flexing.
  • Find the widest part of your upper arm — this is usually a few centimeters below the armhole, but it can vary depending on your body shape.
  • Wrap the measuring tape around this point, making sure it’s flat and level all the way around.
  • The tape should feel snug but not tight — you should still be able to move your arm comfortably.
  • Record the number where the tape meets the starting point — that’s your bicep measurement.

Tip: This measurement is easiest when someone helps you. If you're unsure where your bicep is fullest, slowly move the tape up and down along your upper arm until you find the spot with the largest reading.

How to Measure for a Perfect Wrist Fit

  • Wrap a measuring tape around your wrist, right at the wrist bone.
Make sure the tape sits flat against your skin with no gaps or extra space.
  • If you regularly wear a watch on one wrist, take that measurement while wearing the watch — this ensures a comfortable fit over it.
  • Record the number where the tape meets the starting point — that’s your wrist measurement.

Note: You can choose to:
- Use the same measurement for both cuffs, with or without the watch.
- Or, request different cuff sizes for each wrist. If so, please let us know which side is which (e.g., “Left wrist: with watch, 18 cm”).

How to Measure for a Perfect Sleeve Length

  • Stand naturally with your arm relaxed and slightly bent — this reflects how a sleeve should fall when worn.

  • Place the start of the measuring tape at the outer edge of your shoulder, where the shoulder meets the arm (where a shirt’s shoulder seam would sit).
  • Run the tape down the outer edge of your arm, following the natural curve — over the elbow — and continue down to your wrist.

  • Stop the tape at a point 4 cm past your wrist bone — this ensures the sleeve reaches just the right spot when worn.
  • Record the measurement at that point.

Tip: This measurement is much easier with a helper to guide the tape smoothly along the arm. You can also wear a fitted shirt to help locate the shoulder seam placement.

How to Measure for a Perfect Shirt Length

  • Place the start of the measuring tape at the base of your neck — where the collar would sit.

  • Extend the tape straight down your back, keeping it vertical and close to the body.
  • Take the measurement just below the buttocks — this is your standard shirt length.
